1972    Games of the XX Olympiad in Munich (Germany)

The 20th Games were held in Germany after an interval of 56 years since the 1916 Berlin Games. An American swimming champion was found for using drugs in the doping test after the competition, and he was disqualified from the gold medal.
The Games also recorded the fact that women were elected as the last runner in the torch relay for the first time.
