1968  Games of the XIX Olympiad in Mexico City (Mexico)

The Games were held at the highland with an altitude 2240m. For that reason, many athletes could not adapt to the oxygen-deprived air, and were winded after slight movement. Since then, “highland training” became a research topic.
Japanese soccer team was awarded the bronze   medal for its strenuous efforts. Japan won 11 gold medals and w as ranked third after the United States and Soviet in the gold medal tally.
